I’m not a huge fan of exotic plants and, in fact, am vehemently pro-indigenous. I do, however, have a soft spot for Hydrangeas, a familiar plant in most suburbs in South Africa. These come courtesy (and out the garden) of my housemate‘s mother and have been keeping me company while I’ve been working today.
Anyone else have an exotic plant (non-invasive) that they’d like to stick up for?
hydrangea’s remind me of my gran. they also look like a hat that might have been worn by the queen mother! i like frangipani trees, the flowers smell so good, and i love the variety of colours.
good point emme, I too love frangipani trees. There is one across the road from my parents house with a deep, blood-red flower. I’ll snap a pic and post it here 🙂
Iam also an indigenous lover but what about the Rose, I would never give up my rose garden.
I love hydrangeas because they remind me of that scene in the flower market from My Fair Lady!
And I also love frangipani, that smell is simply delicious. I wonder why nobody has bottled it as perfume yet?
Little known fact: you can tell the concentration of aluminium in soil by how blue hydrangeas are.
