Desert Rose in bloom

This is one of my all-time favourite plants.  It sits quietly in the garden all year round and then shoots out these spectacular flowers in June/July.  It is a member of the succulent family (Adenium obesum), is very easy to grow and requires little to no attention.  In the wild it can grow up to six feet and develops a thick, fleshy trunk.

  1. Great pics. In my zone 10, this plant blooms in intense heat of 100F from may to september. Mine is in 7 inches pot and seems to be a dwarf variety.

  2. Hi Khabab. Thanks for the comment. I think yours is a normal variety but probably just grows to the size of the container. Do you have any photographs of it?

p.s. your blog is great. those waterlilies are beautiful!
