It’s Heritage Day and National Braai Day on Saturday and we will be planting 1000 trees with 500 people in Manenberg. What better way to celebrate SA’s natural heritage as well as Arbour Month? Tree planters include community members, the Western Cape Human Settlements Minister, Bonginkosi Madikizela, government officials, Greenpop volunteers and keen planters. After planting 1000 trees at 17 different locations in the area, teams will come together to enjoy some great music and a braai at Proudly Manenberg.
Please call Lauren on 083 412 8006 or 021 461 9265 for more details, photographs or to arrange to speak with various people at the event. Also, please see the press release attached and below for further information about the importance of this day.
Manenberg is an under-greened and under-privileged area on the Cape Flats that has a high crime, gangsterism and drug abuse. Despite these issues, Manenberg is a community of possibility. Organisations, community members, schools, learners and teachers have come together in Manenberg to improve their areas, take pride in their community and celebrate the incredible possibility that exists. Proudly Manenberg is an organisation doing amazing work in the area. Their vision is to build a vibrant, proud and dignified Manenberg through creating opportunities.
