Planting trees for Mandela Day (Cape Town)

Looks as though there are a few groups planting trees for Mandela Day. Greenpop are doing it in Cape Town. Good way to spend it I would say…

This Sunday 17 July, volunteers with green fingers are expected to gather at 11:00 a.m. at Rocklands Primary School in Mitchell’s Plain to plant a variety of indigenous and fruit trees in celebration of Mandela Day, which is the following day.

For 67 minutes, these volunteers will plant much-needed trees, symbolically paying tribute to the 67 years that Madiba spent working towards making South Africa a better place. The aim is to try plant 93 trees or more in this time – one for each year of Nelson Mandela’s inspiring life.

More details here. If you’d like to come along and join this celebration, please contact Misha on 076 848 7514 or email misha@greenpop.org
